Pioneer Cottage is situated only thirty minutes from Hobart at number 20 Pioneer Avenue in the heart of historic New Norfolk, a small country community built along the gorgeous Derwent River.
This beautiful three bedroom home was originally built in 1946 and lovingly restored in the style of that era. All the furnishings are cozy, comfortable, luxurious and extensive.
There are magnificent views of the mountains and the beautiful Derwent River from the house and its gardens with raspberry bushes and numerous fruit trees as well as a working vegetable garden, that we encourage guests to enjoy.
Only a short walk from the house you can stroll through the beautiful parks along the Esplanade, right beside the Derwent river. There are numerous walks or bike rides you can take along the river and they truly all are beautiful.
The house is only a two minute walk from the heart of New Norfolk where you will find bakeries, grocers, butchers, cafes and restaurants as well as our three historic pubs.
The town of New Norfolk is also a mecca for antique collectors with more than six excellent antique shops scattered around the town.
If sightseeing is on your agenda, New Norfolk is the gateway to the Derwent Valley with Mt Field National Park and its lovely bush walks and waterfalls is only forty minutes away.
Historic Richmond with the oldest bridge in Australia and the old Richmond Gaol as well as a famous Traditional Sweet shop is a thirty-five minute drive.
Port Arthur is an hour and a half away and you can get to Huonville and Dover in two hours
The Tasmanian wine trail begins only ten minutes down the road with one of the many excellent vineyards and wine makers scattered throughout the region.
